This week I have spent about an hour--maybe an hour-and-a-half--looking at other people's blog entries and doing research on the university library website about Native basketry. I found some interesting articles that people might want to check out. I haven't read any of them yet...just glanced over them.
"Donna Mae Largo" by Beverly R. Ortiz, from 'News from Native California'. Mostly about Cahuilla basketry. Also an obituary.
"Woven Legacy" by Stefanie Aarons, from 'New from Native California'. This article is about a Washoe basket weaver named Louisa Keyser ('Dat-so-la-lee'), and baskets she made from 1900-1921.
"The Development of the Commercial Market for Pomo Indian Baskets" by Sherrie Smith-Ferri, from 'Expedition'. This one, I think, is fairly self-explanatory.
Now I'm going to spend about an hour reading and take the quiz. Also, I would like to be in group 3, since there's no one in it yet.
